Carolyn Jean Whitmer, 71, passed away peacefully in her home in El Centro on April 8, 2014, after a long illness.
She was born on August 29, 1942 in Madison, Indiana. Carolyn became a resident of Imperial County when she met and married her husband, Ted, in 1968. Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She had a most infectious laugh and wonderful sense of humor. Carolyn enjoyed reading, watching moves, listening to music and talking with her family and friends into the long hours of the night. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Ted, a retired Imperial County Assistant Sheriff. She is also survived by her children, John Bobbitt (Joe), Michael Bobbitt, and Charleen Ramirez (Phil); grandchildren, Lacey, Nickolas, Ryan, Danica, and Derek; sisters, Helen Ann Liter (Darrell), Pat Quinones (Al), Linda Bocio (Richard); brothers, Buddy Quinn (Dorothy), John Quinn, and Michael Quinn (Lisa); brother-in-law, Randall Whitmer (Soknin); as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edna Quinn, brother Thomas Quinn, father-in-law Richard Whitmer and mother-in-law Sandy Whitmer.
She was dearly loved by her family and friends and her kindness and generosity will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro, Friday, April 25, 2014 at 6 p.m.
