Ethel Malan Lanning, well known teacher and principal who worked for the Calipatria Unified School District, passed away on January 30, 2013 in Brawley, California.
Ethel was born on August 6, 1917 in Altadena, California, to Myrtha and William Malan, a Minister of the Methodist Church. She was well respected and loved by all who knew her, especially at the Calipatria Community Church, where she was organist and choir director for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clyde Lanning, and son Howard.
Ethel is survived by her sisters, Jean Brock of El Centro, and Phyllis Corn of Calipatria, along with five nephews and two nieces, and many grandnephews and grandnieces.
Services for Ethel will take place at Frye Chapel in Brawley on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11 a.m.
