Guillermo "Willie" G. Nuñez passed away on January 18, 2013.
Willie was born on November 8, 1947 to Ernesto and Consuelo Nuñez in Calexico, CA. After graduating from Calexico High School in 1966, he attended Imperial Valley College. While attending college, he decided to serve his country proudly by joining the Marine Corps in 1967. He served in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969. Upon his arrival from Vietnam, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou Garcia. He worked for the I.N.S. and later transferred to U.S. Customs. Willie retired as a supervisor in 2003 after working 35 years for the U.S. Government.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Nuñez; daughters and sons-in- law, Louisa Nuñez of El Centro, Ceci and Jason Temores of Fremont, CA, and Patricia and Paul Wojcik of El Centro; stepmother, Maria de Jesus Nuñez of Rancho San Diego, CA; brother, Paul Nuñez of Rancho San Diego, CA; sister, Elsa Dinkel of Charleston, SC; stepbrother, Jorge Lizarraga of Santee, CA; stepsister, Cecilia Necochea of Rancho San Diego, CA; and grandchildren, Henry, Jason, Ethan, Jaylin, Aspen, and Jaclyn.
Visitation for Wille will take place Friday, February 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro, with rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass will commence at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in El Centro. Burial with military honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.
In lieu of flowers, take a friend or family member out for coffee, breakfast, or visit with someone that can really enjoy a chat with you. These are the things that Willie would like or ask of you in his memory.
