MARIA DEL REFUGIO PEÑUÑURI PADILLA

Maria Padilla, 80, of Calexico passed away of renal failure at ECRMC on Friday, February 28.
She was born December 8, 1933 in Huasabas, Sonora, Mexico and later married Juan Jose Padilla on September 15, 1961 in Ensenada, Mexico. Maria was a homemaker all her life and a devoted wife who cared for her husband who suffered from Alzheimer's for over 20 years. She was also a loving mother and grandmother and proudly became a US Citizen on June 20, 2008.
Visitation will take place Friday, March 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico with rosary at 7 p.m. Mass, officiated by Father Miguel Campos, will commence at 9 a.m. Saturday also at the church. Per her wishes, Maria will be cremated and no burial is planned.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Jose Padilla in 2002.
Maria is survived by her daughters, Maribel Padilla-Leyva (Rick), and Claudia Jiminez; grandchildren, Justine, Michael and Nathaniel Jiminez, Bianca Bernal and Juan and Fernando Ochoa; great-grandchildren, Carlos Alejandre Jr., Joey Imperial Jr., and Nathaniel Jiminez Jr.; and brothers, Jesus and Antonio Peñuñuri. A special thanks to Maria Arevalos of Hospice of Imperial Valley for all her care.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to San Diego Chapter.
