Robert Walter Rubin, Sr., 90, of Holtville, California, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at El Centro Regional Medical Center.
Robert was the third of six sons, born August 19, 1923 in Illinois to Carl and Marianne Rubin. He moved to Holtville in 1924 and graduated from Holtville High School in 1941. On September 2, 1950, he married the former Jean Ruth Killinger. Robert was a local farmer and enjoyed being active in the Swiss Club, the Pioneer's Museum and St. Paul's. He also enjoyed tending to his dates, gardening, bowling, elk hunting, and deep-sea fishing.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Ruth Rubin, and four brothers, Carl, John, Leslie and Benny. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend.
Robert is survived by two sons Robert, Jr. and Michael; ,two daughters Bonnie Trammell and Vivian Bowers; 8 grandchildren; 4 great- grandchildren; and his brother, Louie.
Graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 21 at Evergreen Cemetery, 201 E. Gillett St., El Centro, CA 92243. A celebration of life service will begin 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 548 Chestnut Ave., Holtville, CA 92250. Pastor Joel Meyer will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Robert Rubin Memorial Fund, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 548 Chestnut Ave., Holtville, CA 92250.
