Raul was born March 3, 1934 in Heber, CA. He was an avid baseball enthusiast with a passion for the sport that was unmatched. As a youth, he played baseball with conviction and aspired to be a professional baseball player as his life revolved around the sport. Having played on the Aguilas' Semi-Pro baseball team in Mexcali, he and his first wife, Nate, enjoyed the sport and built a family around the involvement with his kids. He committed his life after pro-ball to coaching and showing his skills and expertise to the youth of El Centro. He earned the nickname of "Coach". The greatest achievement was his family, showing the love of the sport, and teaching the local youth. He took great pride in his son, Joey whose aspirations were like his dad's, playing pro baseball; which he did with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Aguilas. Although preceded in death by his son, Joey, his passion for the sport never died. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Natividad (Nate) Cazares and leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Maria and his children, Diane Garcia, Cindy (Benny) Benavidez, Nona (Juan) Cox, Rocky Cazares, Gina Cazares, Dino (Jennifer) Cazares, Valentino (Janina) Cazares, Raul Cazares, Laura Cazares, and Claudia Cazares; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
