OLIVER JAMES "OZZY" HARTSHORN
Oct. 23, 1991 - Aug. 17, 2013
Oliver ("Ozzy") James Hartshorn was born on October 23, 1991. He took his life on August 17, 2013. He was 21.
Oliver lived in Holtville until he was 6, when he and his mother moved to Pleasanton, CA. There he attended elementary and middle school. They again moved, this time to Placerville, CA, where Oliver attended eighth grade and one year at El Dorado High. He spent his sophomore and junior years at the Academy in Oregon, and then in Fiji. He returned to Placerville and graduated from Independence High School, and went on to take classes at Folsom Lake College.
Oliver struggled with depression as a teen and young adult. He was happiest when he was playing his guitar and spending time with his friends. He was a good friend to many, and a much-loved son and grandson. He hoped to be remembered "not by what he said, but how he listened."
Oliver is survived by his mother, Noelle Hartshorn; two aunts, and his paternal grandmother. No funeral services are planned.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to a favorite charity or suicide prevention group.

I do not know your son, but my heart goes out to his family. I lost a niece who was 32 and I know the pain surrounding the loss of a child much too early in life. May God bless you and your family. Keep "Ozzy's" memories alive and know that he is at peace.
