ALIDA REYENGA

Aug. 15, 1946 - Apr. 11, 2012

Alida Reyenga, 65, of Holtville passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012.
She was born August 15, 1946 in Amsterdam, Holland. After attending college in Chicago, Alida ran the "Sexual Freedom League" for a time before moving to Los Angeles and starting "House of Sheets" (one of the first discount bedding stores in the U.S.), which she ran for 12 years prior to selling. She then spent 14 years on the road looking for a place she wanted to live. After falling in love with Holtville, she along with partner David Vernon bought the "Klassy Karrot Kottages" and proceeded to create a unique weekly motel.
She is survived by her partner of 32 years, David S. Vernon of Holtville; sister, Veronica Fisher of Vallejo, CA; brother, Henk Reyenga of Concord, CA; friend and business associate, Julie Coronel, and by her "family" of 4 small dogs.
Small celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. at 875 Bonds Corner Rd. Holtville.
