Armando Alvarado Jr. "Mando", 45, of Heber, was born on December 31, 1966 - 20 minutes before the New Year. His family moved to Heber in March 1974, where he attended Heber Elementary/Junior High. In 1985 he graduated from Central Union High and went on to attend ITT, graduating in 1990.
On May 29, 1999 Armando married his wife, Angelita Alvarado in Imperial, CA. Together they celebrated the births of two children, son, Armando Alvarado III in September 2003 and daughter, Alynn Zienna Alvarado in August 2008. His wife, children, family, God-children and friends meant the world to him, and with them, he loved to live life to the fullest each and every day. Armando also truly enjoyed watching Baja off-road racing.
Throughout his life, Armando worked at Car Quest Auto Parts, Hoyt Transportation, Valley Auto Supply, Cook's Market and many other places outside the Valley. For the past ten years, he was employed at NAF-EC under Northrop Grumman/Lockheed Martin contract. He also enjoyed coaching for many years for the El Centro Little League Baseball.
Armando's main job in this world, was bringing laughter into the "moment". He was well-known for his unforgettable sense of humor. His charisma was powerful enough to move masses and it was funny how everyone followed at his command and order. He was a true leader. Armando's faith in God was so strong, he was able to inspire many to pray and believe in miracles.
Armando passed away on Thursday, June 28 after a five year battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Angelita Alvarado; son, Armando Alvarado III; daughter, Alynn Zienna Alvarado; parents, Armando and Rosalbina Alvarado of Heber; brothers, Jose Alfred (Sandra) Alvarado of La Quinta and Robert (Isa) Alvarado of Chula Vista; sisters, Veronica Barajas and Martha Rosa Alvarado of Heber; numerous nieces and nephews, Joey Hernandez, Luis Andres "Louie" and David Alejandro Barajas, Michael Angelo and Kandice Alvarado, Dominic Jose and Kazandra Mia Abrica, Bobby, George and Brittany Alvarado; godchildren; cousins; and many extraordinary friends.
Visitation for Armando Alvarado Jr. will take place on Monday, July 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in El Centro, including rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be officiated by Father Edward Horning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10 and will be immediately followed by burial services at Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico. The family is asking that everyone in attendance of the mass please wear white.
