Bobby Stevens was born August 15, 1933 in Louisiana to the late Clifford and Era Stevens. He was an only child. Bobby lived in Louisiana in his younger years and later moved to Texas. In the early 1950's Bobby moved with his family to El Centro, CA where he attended and graduated Central Union High School. In 1964, Bobby married Ernestine Walker and together they raised four sons: Michael, Larry, Tony and Kenneth.
Bobby was a member of Second Baptist Church, where he served on the trustee board. Bobby retired from the City of El Centro in 1996 after working 42 years in the public works department, and later working as a crossing guard.
On March 8, 2014 the Lord called Bobby home to rest in the arms of Christ. He joined those that preceded him in death: his parents, sons Michael and Tony, 2 sisters-in-law Christine and Jerold, 2 brothers-in-law Tommy and Charles. Bobby leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 50 years, Ernestine Stevens; sons, Larry and Kenneth; brother-in-law, Don Campbell (Bertha); sisters, Denise Scott (Wilbur) and Laverne Sampson; 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 24 at 9 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 187 W. Brighton, El Centro. Services will follow at 10 a.m.
