CLARENCE L. NICKEL
May 8, 1929 - June 21, 2013
Clarence Nickel, 84, passed away June 21, 2013. He was a man who embraced life, loved people, and always looked for ways to serve others.
In 1951, he married Phyllis Volner, and together they raised six children. He was proud of his children, playing football for CUHS and Central J.C., and serving his country in the United States Army. For many years he was in the vending machine business, and then became an air conditioning and electrical contractor; servicing the valley in his blue van. Clarence was a member of many civic and service organizations, and was a Past Commander of the American Legion, Post 25. Serving others brought him great joy.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sister, Mabel Danenberg; sons, David Nickel, and Patrick Nickel and wife Lauri; daughters, Karen Gonseth and husband Christian, Jennifer Villalobos and husband Robert, and Elizabeth Cochran; son-in-law, Christopher Crie; 11 grandchildren, 5 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Crie; son-in-law, Rick Cochran; and nephew, Kenneth Stewart.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 1 at Hems Brothers Mortuary, with rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2 at St. Mary's Catholic Church; lunch immediately following. Burial will be Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.
