David Armstrong, 72, of North Shore died comfortably in his home on Tuesday, April 24 following a courageous battle with heart disease.
He was born July 11, 1939, in Brawley. David served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Indio and also supported many charities throughout our local community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Josephine Armstrong; his son, David Aaron Armstrong Jr.; and five brothers, Eddie, Albert, Alex, Danny and Andrew Armstrong.
David is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Armstrong; daughters, Suzanne Armstrong and Johanna Islas (of former wife, Evelyn Armstrong), Norma Sanchez, Martha Arreola, Claudia Padilla and Elizabeth Vasquez, sons; Albert Armstrong (mother, Beatrice Garza), Edward Armstrong, Manuel Cuevas, Amador Cuevas and Ricardo Vasquez; sisters, Elizabeth and Rachel Armstrong and Nora Montaño; brothers, Gilbert Armstrong, David and Joe Espinoza. He is further survived by 28 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 9 at 9 a.m. at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 555 N. Palm Avenue in Brawley. He will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery immediately following the service.
