Elias Hurtado, 79, of Holtville passed away on Tuesday, July 31.
He was born August 2, 1932 in Michoacan, Mexico and later married Helen Hurtado. Together they raised 6 daughters.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 9 from 6 -9 p.m. Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Holtville. Church service will follow Friday, August 10 at 10am.
Elias was an active member of his community where he worked and retired from the City of Holtville after 30 years of service. He was also a long time member of the active 20-30 club where he was known as "Grandpa" by many. Elias also served as an usher at St. Joseph's Church and dedicated much of his time to local fundraisers. He enjoyed deep seafishing, cooking his famous barbacoa and reminiscing about his youth.
Elias is survived by his wife, Helen; sisters, Marcelina De La Cruz (Ruben), Catalina Hurtado; daughters, Mary Alice Hurtado (Frank), Rosemary Johnson, Margie Gutierrez (Gabe Sr.), Patty Moreno (Javier), Christina Tydingco (Julio), Janina Hurtado; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will by held on Friday, August 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Holtville. Burial will be held at Terrace Park Cemetery in Holtville.
