EMMA N. CORDOVA
July 3, 1939 - Aug. 27, 2013
Emma N. Cordova, 74, of El Centro, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla, CA. Emma went peacefully surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness.
Emma was married to her childhood sweetheart for 54 years, Ralph Cordova, whom she loved with all her heart. She was an incredible person who loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She loved music and loved to dance. Emma also had a passion for shopping. Until she became ill, she enjoyed traveling and camping in their RV. She was an avid Charger fan and enjoyed watching football games with her family. Emma was born on July 3, 1939, a daughter of the late Alberto and Carmen Nogales. She attended Calexico High School and Imperial Valley College. She worked for the El Centro School District as a Librarian for 24 years before retiring in 1994. Emma was involved for many years with the PTA, Little League, Babe Ruth Baseball and Pop Warner Football. Her children could always count on her to be their biggest fan during all their school activities and sporting events. As she grew older, Emma's passion for supporting her children was fulfilled by watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's school activities and sporing events. Even as she became ill, you could always count on her to be at their games, rooting them on. Emma loved her children with all her heart as they loved her.
Emma is preceded in death by her parents, Alberto and Carmen Nogales; sisters, Lola Grassit, Rogelia Velarde and brother, Alberto Nogales.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her loving husband, Ralph Cordova; children, Lulu and Juan Wyatt, Ralph Jr. and Julie Cordova and Danina Cordova; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
Mass will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Church located at 795 La Brucherie Road in El Centro.
