GUADALUPE RIVERA SKATES

Guadalupe Skates, 74, of National City, CA passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012.
Lupe lived in Brawley, CA from 1969-1983. She worked as a farm worker and later became a foreman with Freeman. She also worked along side Cesar Chavez during the grape strike. In 1983 she moved to National City and worked with Meals on Wheels and other non-profit organizations. Throughout her life in San Diego she assisted the elderly; care-taking for them up into her final years. Lupe was a devoted Catholic and volunteered in many church groups like the Guadalupanas.
Rosary will be held on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 6 p.m. at El Camino Mortuary in National City, CA. Service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in San Diego, CA. Burial will immediately follow at Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemetery in San Diego, CA.
She is survived by 8 children, 27 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 more great-grandchildren on the way.
