JOE ANTONIO "HUNGRY" HUERTA

Joe Antonio Huerta, 62, of El Centro went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 19, 2013 at El Centro Regional Medical Center in El Centro, CA.
Joe was born on February 12, 1951 to Antonio Frutos Huerta and Carmen Ortiz. He attended Washington and Meadows Elementary school; as well as Central Union High School. He was a Spartan wrestler and football player. He worked at Tri-Produce, Sanbon Inc., Cold Hart Cooling, and Desert Express as a forklift operator. He also worked for the Work Training Center as a Vocational Trainer. Joe married Artemiza (Micho) on June 27, 1981 in Yuma, AZ. His greatest accomplishments were his two daughters, Maritza and Lorena; and his granddaughter, Kali. Joe was a pitbull lover an also loved to ride his bikes. He had a passion for cooking, loved camping outdoors and driving up California's highway 101. Joe enjoyed watching the History Channel, tending to his yard, listening to various types of music and rooting for the San Diego Chargers. Joe loved to reminisce of the good old days when he would work up North. He was an active member of First Assembly of God Church since 1999. He enjoyed assisting in the men's Saturday's fellowship breakfasts; and enjoyed being a greeter. He enjoyed going to men's Retreats in Pine Crest. Joe will be greatly missed for his sense of humor, honesty and boldness.
He is proceded in death by his father, Antonio Frutos Huerta; his brother, Mario Oritz Huerta; sister, Monica Angela Huerta; and niece Amanda Huerta.
Survivors include his wife, Artemiza (Micho) Huerta; daughters, Maritza Huerta and Lorena Villanueva; and his only grandchild, Kali. As well as his faithful pitbull named Annie; his mother, Carmen Ortiz Huerta; his brothers, Richard, Armando and Michael Huerta; sisters, Gloria Granillo, Patricia Loera and Teri Huerta.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 6 to 9p.m. at Hem's Brothers Mortuary in El Centro, CA. Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 9 a.m. officiated by Pastor Joshua Long at First Assembly of God Church in El Centro, CA.
