Jose Rubalcava, 86, died peacefully in his home on Saturday, May 25, 2013 surrounded by his family in Imperial.
He was born on February 14, 1927 to Gregorio Rubalcava and Apolonia Guzman in Rancho Hacienda del Paraiso, in Jalisco, Mexico.
He is survived by Brigida Silva, spouse of 59 years; children, Ramon, Pedro (Kristin), Martin, Jose Alberto (Sharon), Juan (Socorro), Martha Patricia, Abraham (Evelyn), Sarah Rubalcava-Matus, Maria Guadalupe Rubalcava- Ruiz (Alfredo); 13 grandchildren; and 1 brother, Ignacio Rubalcava Guzman.
Jose arrived to the U.S. in 1944 and worked for Mr. Singh as a farm laborer in the Melloland area, initially, then shortly thereafter in Brawley where he continued as a farm laborer, ranch hand and farm equipment operator with Ralph Butters, Orita Land and Cattle Company and Jack Rutherford retiring after more than fifty years.
Vigil and viewing will be on Wednesday, May 29 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 211 W. Sixth St. in Imperial. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, May 30 at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony. Burial will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.
