JOSEPH G. MULLER

Joseph G. Muller, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Holtville, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, December 22, 2012. He was born on February 12, 1928 in Holtville, California to Josef Karl Muller and Anna Genevieve Grossman. Joe attended East Side Elementary School and was a 1946 graduate from Holtville High School where he served as Student Body President. He enlisted in the Navy where he served his country.
On November 19, 1949 he married Marguerite Alice Clark. Together they had five children. Aside from spending time with his family, Joe enjoyed serving his community, of which, he was named Citizen of the Year in 1993. His services included being a member of the school board for eight years and Holtville Rotary Club. He also was actively involved in St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Imperial Valley Swiss Club. His talent for making deep pit Barbeque will be greatly missed.
Visitation and rosary will take place Thursday, January 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Holtville. Mass will commence at the church at 10 a.m. Friday morning. Joseph will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro following Mass.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter and Leo; and sisters, Anna and Hedwig.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Marguerite; children, Margie (Bill) Stacey, Tom (Cella) Muller, Patti (George) Sanders, Mary (Earle) Sperber, and Susan (Mike) Omlin; sister, Martha Miller Frank; 10 grandchildren, 7 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
