A memorial service will be held Friday, May 11 at 7 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro for Joseph Rumjahn who died in his home Saturday, April 28. He was 62.
Joseph was born August 3, 1949 in Hong Kong and was married to Terry Gaxiola Rumjahn on November 13, 1982 in El Centro. Joseph was an Imperial Valley business man for the last 32 years, and most recent owner of Exotic Thai Bistro. He was known for his unique sense of humor, generosity, passion for the culinary arts, and love for all animals.
He was preceded in death by his father, Abdul Hamid Rumjahn and mother, Mrs. Quarmar Jahn Rumjahn.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Terry Gaxiola Rumjahn; brother, George Rumjahn; sister-in-law, Stella Rumjahn, and nieces, Sharin and Yasmin Rumjahn; sister, Aisha Rose Donavan; brother-in-law, John Donavan; nieces Fatima Donavan and Zarina Brimalow, and nephew, Hamid Donavan, all of Queensland, Australia. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Joe Gaxiola, mother-in-law, Aurora Gaxiola; brothers-in-law, Jose A. Gaxiola and Robert Gaxiola; niece, Sophia Gaxiola; nephew, Robby Gaxiola, all of El Centro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Cancer Research Center of the Desert.
