Lavern Fusi, 81, of Holtville passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
Lavern attended schools in Bragg City, Missouri and graduated from Bragg City High School in 1946. She then went on to attend college in Memphis, Tennessee. Lavern then moved west to the Imperial Valley and received her first job with Pacific Telephone Company. Leaving her first job, she became employed with First National Back in Holtville, CA. Her bank merged with Wells Fargo and she retired from there in 1985. Lavern's hobbies included cooking, working in her garden, visiting casinos, and spending time with her son, Gary. She will be remembered always for her unwavering love towards her grandsons and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Modesto Fusi; parents, Charlie and Mayme Mitchell; brothers, Jess Odell, and JR Mitchell; sister, Lorene Lynn.
She is survived by her long time campanion, Ray Carter; son, Gary (Ambra) Fusi of Holtville; grandsons, Travis (Marissa) Fusi of Imperial, Branden (Jera) Fusi of San Diego, Anthony (Candice) Fusi of San Diego, Dustin ( Melissa ) Fusi of Holtville; great-grandchildren, Jakob, Jayden, and Olivia Fusi, and Mia, Elijah, Lane Fusi; sisters, Mary Robinson of Hesperia, CA, Lela Georeanne from Mentone, CA, Esther Knibbs from Junction City, CA and Yuma, AZ, Louise Fyler from Fontana, CA, Kathryn Kafka from Riverside, CA; brother, Steve Mitchell from Bloomington, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 officiated by Pastor Norman Chandler at 11 a.m. at Turning Point Life Center in Holtville.
