LORA DELL WOLFE Obituary

LORA DELL WOLFE

Feb. 27, 1924 - Feb. 28, 2014

Lora Dell Wolfe, 90, of Imperial passed away peacefully to be with the Lord, on Friday, February 28, 2014. Lora was born in Henrietta, Oklahoma on February 27, 1924 to William and Tillie Little. She married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) D. Wolfe (Honeybabe) September 6, 1941. They resided in Seeley, California for the majority of their married life where they raised their four children.
Lora was employed by the Seeley Elementary School District for 35 years where she retired as the head cook and dietician. Lora loved cooking for all the teachers but she especially loved cooking and baking for the kids at Seeley School whom she considered her own. Everyone loved her "apple crisp," her "peanut butter and honey cookies," but her "chili beans and cornbread" were the best and were served every Wednesday. Many of the parents would frequently enjoy lunch with their children; however, on Wednesday's, Lora would double her recipe for chili beans to accommodate all of the parents having lunch at school. Even after retirement, she continued cooking and baking for all her grandchildren and their friends.
Lora was a 4-H leader for both sewing and cooking in the Seeley 4-H Club for many years. After her retirement from Seeley School, she became a regular judge for the California Mid-Winter Fair & Expo in the areas of sewing and cooking. She loved working with children as well as adults. She loved to cook just about every- thing and several of her very own recipes can be found in the Seeley Community Church Cook Book. Lora and Bob were lifelong members of the Seeley Community Church where Lora was actively involved in the youth program. When Lora moved to Imperial, she faithfully attended the Imperial Community Church with dear friend, Emma Gianni, until her health prohibited it.
Lora was adoringly and skillfully cared for by Jane Wallace in her own home in Imperial. This charming lady, her long-time friend, provided a quality of life and companionship for Lora four hours daily before it became necessary for her to move in with her daughter and devoted son-in-law, Abdul. After his retirement in 2005, he became her primary caregiver along with Jane, where she received competent, loving care. She later moved to "Parent's Place" in Brawley where guidance and care were given by their employees and family. Lora loved it when the girls brought their children to work with them; these caregivers made Mom feel greatly loved. In October 2012, Lora became a resident of "Vintage Village" in El Centro; her compassionate caregivers surrounded her with affection, gave her dignity and pride; they made her feel very special! For these caregivers, we are truly grateful and express our gratitude to them for helping to make Mom feel loved and important.
Lora is survived by her two daughters Maxine (Tootie) McNair (Jim) of Telluride, Colorado and Patsy Mohamed (Abdul) of Imperial, CA; her daughters-in-law Annie Wolfe of Seeley, CA and Jeanie Wolfe of Crest, CA; her grandchildren Ronda Locher (Bobby) of Seeley, CA; Schannon Mohamed of Brawley, CA; Christopher Wolfe (Shannon) of Crest, CA; Sean Wolfe (Shannon) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Kimberly (Kimo) Mohamed of Imperial, CA; Shayla Wilkes of Telluride, Colorado, Brandon Wolfe (Andrea) of Canton, Ohio; Kellen Wolfe (Rachel) of Lakeside, CA; her great-grandchildren Bethany Hansen (Tim) of Imperial, CA; Carly Ashurst (Brent) of Westmorland, CA; Megan Wells (Josh) of Phoenix, AZ; Katie and Annie Locher of Seeley; Marcus and Khiya Mohamed of Imperial, CA; Trenton Wolfe of Crest, CA; Virginia and Ronin Wilkes of Telluride, CO; Kenzie and Kade Wolfe of Lakeside, CA; Riley and Keegan Wolfe of Canton, Ohio; Shayanne Wolfe of Las Vegas, Nevada; great- great-grand-children Blade, ZaMarie and Khloe Hansen of Imperial; and Brently, Reagan and Huston Ashurst of Westmorland, CA.
