MARY HELEN SAYLES

July 3, 1937 - June 28, 2013



It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and sister Mary Helen Sayles. She passed away on June 28th in San Diego, CA with family by her bedside. A resident of
Calexico, Vancouver, Canada and San Diego, Mary Helen was passionate about being involved in her family and children's lives.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Conrad W. Sayles and was his loving wife for 41 yrs and will be laid to rest alongside him. Mary Helen was a devoted mother to her six children, grandmother of seven and will be dearly missed by their families; Karen (Jack) in Vancouver, Canada; Warren (Melissa), children Keith, Kayla; (Kathy Prados) child Kassandra in San Antonio, Texas; Kyle of Fallon, Nevada; Kevin and his two sons of Los Angeles; Kristine (Christopher), children Melanie, Ava of San Diego and Konrad of San Antonio, Texas.
Mary Helen is the eldest daughter of and is predeceased by her parents, Manuel and Trinidad Diaz and sisters, Olga Banda and Ofelia Banda and is survived by her sisters Beneranda Guereña, Trinidad Diaz Jr. and brother Manuel Diaz Jr., along with many beautiful nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.
In her younger years, she worked at the Calexico theatre and TV station before her marriage. Mary Helen knew the joys of raising her children in the Imperial Valley and was involved with their schools, activities and her many close friendships in the community. Her family enjoyed a chance of a lifetime to move to Canada with U.S. Customs when Conrad was transferred to work Vancouver airport (YVR) in 1977, where they all enjoyed the beautiful life and landscapes of Canada and the Pacific Northwest for twelve years. A mass will be held to celebrate her remarkable life on Monday, August 5th, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico. Burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
