RAMON M. "CHIEF" SESMA

Ramon Sesma of Calexico passed away on March 23, 2013. He was 93 years old and was born February 3, 1920 in Phoenix, Arizona. When he was ten years old, his family moved to Imperial Valley and attended the old Heber school. In his youth, his family were migrant workers and worked in the fields in the Imperial and San Fernando Valley, but always considered Imperial Valley their residence.
On July 2, 1944 Ramon married Angelina Hernandez, and was a proud parent of five children, 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Ramon's greatest pleasure in life was being an active parent with his children. He also loved to dance and in his youth, during the big band era of Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller, he enjoyed entering dance contests and often won.
Ramon worked for the City of Calexico for 30 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Cursillo group, and Knights of Columbus. Ramon was also a church usher and an honored pioneer of Calexico.
Visitation will be held at Hems Brothers Mortuary in Calexico on Monday, April 1, 2013 from 6 to 9 p.m. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Mass is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Ramon was preceded in death by his wife, Angelina Sesma; son, Ray Sesma of Incline Village, Lake Tahoe; sisters, Nieves Corona, Frances Wilson, Josefina Regalado, and Ruth Leon.
Ramon is survived by his daughters, Irene Esquer of Calexico, Ruby Arballo and Norma Pantoja, both of El Centro; son, Fernando Sesma of Lakewood; brother, Jessie Garcia of Calexico; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
