TERA MAE RHODES

Tera Mae Rhodes was born August 29, 1928 to George and Mary Ashworth in Bancroft, Louisiana. She was born into a family that later totaled fourteen siblings - seven boys and seven girls.
After her husband, Sonny Rhodes passed away in 1953, Tera relocated from Louisiana to El Centro, CA; where she met the love of her life, Frank Houston.
Tera worked several jobs until she started working for Calexico Hospital, County Hospital, until it closed and later at El Centro Community Hospital.
To some Tera was known as Tee, Tee Baby, Aunt Tee, Mama and other sweet names. You can always count on Tera (Aunt Tee). She was always there for her family and friends. She would go anywhere and do anything to help you.
Tera departed this life on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, in the evening.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Frank Houston; both parents, George and Mary Ashworth; brothers, Carcee Ashworth, Emerson Ashworth, Clinton Ashworth, Robert Ashworth, M.C. Ashworth and George Ashworth, Jr.; sisters, Irene White, Savannah Dunning, Louise White, and Oretha Scott; and son, Frank Houston, Jr.
Tera leaves to mourn her one brother, Henry Ashworth of Richmond, California; two sisters, Katherine White of Oakdale, Louisiana, Deloris Jamerson of Richmond, California; and also many, many nieces and nephews, especially her nephew, Johnny Dunning who she considered a son and other relatives and good friends.
Visitation will take place tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary, 1975 S. 4th St., in El Centro. Services will be held on Wednesday August 15, 2012, at 10 a.m., also at Hems Brothers.
