Obituary Condolences

Mar. 3, 1934 - Feb. 15, 2014

Visitation will be held Monday, February 24 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro for Rosario Raul Cazares who passed away Saturday, February 15 following a prolonged illness. He was 80 years old. Services will commence at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, also at Hems Brothers with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Raul was born March 3, 1934 in Heber, CA. He was an avid baseball enthusiast with a passion for the sport that was unmatched. As a youth, he played baseball with conviction and aspired to be a professional baseball player as his life revolved around the sport. Having played on the Aguilas' Semi-Pro baseball team in Mexcali, he and his first wife, Nate, enjoyed the sport and built a family around the involvement with his kids. He committed his life after pro-ball to coaching and showing his skills and expertise to the youth of El Centro. He earned the nickname of "Coach". The greatest achievement was his family, showing the love of the sport, and teaching the local youth. He took great pride in his son, Joey whose aspirations were like his dad's, playing pro baseball; which he did with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Aguilas. Although preceded in death by his son, Joey, his passion for the sport never died. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Natividad (Nate) Cazares and leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Maria and his children, Diane Garcia, Cindy (Benny) Benavidez, Nona (Juan) Cox, Rocky Cazares, Gina Cazares, Dino (Jennifer) Cazares, Valentino (Janina) Cazares, Raul Cazares, Laura Cazares, and Claudia Cazares; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
