Joseph Wayne Toten 67, of Holtville passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014.
Wayne was born December 16, 1946 in El Centro, CA. Wayne worked in produce for over 40 years. Traveling from Los Banos, Bakersfield, then back to Imperial Valley. Finally settling with Andrews and Sons Cooling which is now Highline cooling, retiring in December 2013. Those who knew him can attest to his strong work ethic. Rarely missing a day of work. Wayne had a love for his job that is rare today. Building many life long friendships throughout out Imperial Valley.
Wayne had a passion for riding his Harley, shooting guns, desert rides and races. Wayne was proud of his American Indian heritage as a registered Choctaw Indian.
His greatest passion was his family. he had a great love for his wife Pat of over 40 years, his children and many grandchildren. You could always find him either at home surrounded by his family laughing, giving hugs or at their homes being on the receiving end of all the love and hugs. Wayne was never afraid to tell his children that he loved them. He will be greatly missed by all. Those who knew him, loved this quick witted, twinkle in his eye, fun, loving man.
Wayne is survived by his wife Pat Toten; children, Jody (Kim) of El Centro, Brenda (Rodney) Barber of Holtville, Jimmy (Christina) Toten of Holtville, Kimberly Clay of Holtville, Tina (Shawn) Moses of Holtville; brothers, Eddie Toten, AB Toten, Paul Toten, Timmy Toten; and 17 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 4 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro. Reception to follow at Swiss Club.
