Mario L. Hernandez, 60, of El Centro passed away on June 9, 2013 in Oceanside, California after a long illness. He was surrounded by his wife, daughters, and sons- in-law.
He was born August 5, 1952, to Augustine and Soledad Hernandez in Yuma, Arizona. Mario served in the United States Border Patrol from 1983 until 2007. He retired as Field Operations Supervisor and spent his career in the El Centro Sector.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustine and Soledad Hernandez; his brothers, Domingo Hernandez, Augustine Hernandez Jr., Carlos Hernandez; and sister, Mercedes Hernandez.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Hernandez; daughters and sons- in-law, Kristina and Felix Ramirez, Melanie and Gustavo Lira, Gloria and Adrian Jimenez, Brandy Hernandez, Melissa and Shawn Matteson, and Angela Hernandez; sisters and brothers, Andrew Hernandez, Dolores Tapia, Lydia Ruiz, and Martha Sanchez; 16 grandchildren with one to be born in October and 3 great-grandchildren.
Private family visitation to take place on Friday, June 14 at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro. A Celebration of Life to take place on Saturday, June 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Barbara Worth Country Club in Holtville. During the Celebration of Life the family invites people to share memories and stories of Mario.
