MARTIN (DIAZ) CUEVAS

Martin Cuevas, 77, of Brawley passed away Tuesday, June 4.
He was born January 31, 1936 in Carrizo Municipio de Tapazula, Jalisco, Mexico and was later married to Carmen Garcia. Martin came to the United States through the Bracero Program and worked in agriculture over 50 years. His interests were harvesting his own crops and raising farm animals.
Martin was a very hardworking family man, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved socializing with friends. He was also known for producing his "mexican tea" for healing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Zenaida Diaz and father, Guillermo Cuevas.
Martin is survived by his wife, Carmen Cuevas; daughters, Carolina (Steven) Valdez, and Esmeralda (Robert) Orozco; grandchildren, Robert Orozco, Syriana and Sevanna Valdez; stepdaughters, Cecilia Tabarez, Carmen (Joel) Espino, Maria Lua (Rodrigo) Torrez, Lupe (Tony) Gallegos, Rosa (Marcelino) Hernandez, Jessenia and Vanessa Lua; stepsons, Edgar Lua, Hector and Victor Carranza, Richard Castellon, and John Tabarez; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services were held at St. Margaret Mary Church in Brawley.
