Thomas E. "Buster" Bunch
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas E. "Buster" Bunch, age 89, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, with Rev. Larry Daniel officiating. Interment will follow in Lexington Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 - 9 p.m., at Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington.
Mr. Bunch passed away Tuesday in Lexington.
He was born June 13, 1923 in Lexington to the late Thomas Bryan and Eddie Sue Hall Bunch. He was a WWII
Veteran serving in the U. S. Air Force in India and Tinian. He was in the Bomber Support group that loaded bombs onto planes for raids on the Japanese islands. He was on Tinian when the Enola Gay took off carrying atomic bombs to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW
. He was a 32nd degree Mason and the longest continuous serving member of First United Methodist Church in Lexington. Mr. Bunch was former Chairman of the Lexington Gas & Water Board, a former Director of Central State Bank, and a longtime Rotarian
, receiving the Paul Harris Fellow Award. He was a retired Lexington Postmaster.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Edwina Porter Bunch; two sons, Porter (Susie) Bunch and Bryan (Winnie) Bunch; two sisters, Betty Hall Walker and Jo Ann Armstrong, all of Lexington, and three grandchildren, Tom (Lori) Bunch of Huron, Drew (Rhonnie Janoe) Bunch of Murfreesboro and Sara Bunch of Lexington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church or the VFW Post in Lexington, TN.
