Obituary Condolences

Edna Loraine Lowery

Edna Loraine Lowery, age 93 became an angel on the morning of March 30, 2013. She smiled on Earth for the last time at Bells Nursing Home in Bells, TN.

Edna, was affectionally known as "Miss Edna", "Mama", "Slim", "Grannie", "Eggnog" and many more fun nicknames to match her personality. She was born in Humboldt, TN on February 12, 1920 to two blessed parents, Robert Patterson and Lily Patterson. She had three siblings, Robert Patterson, Louise Stegall, and Sarah Howell, which preceded her in death.

She grew up and attended school in Humboldt, TN, where she met and later married her soul mate and best friend, Charles Earl Lowery of Alamo, TN. They had three children, Miriam Lowery Pulliam, Ron Lowery, and Herman Ray Lowery. Herman preceded Edna in death after a fight against cancer. Edna and Charles moved to Alamo in 1972 where she opened "Edna's Flowers". Flowers were Edna's passion and it showed in every arrangement she made. She became a special part of her customers' lives, and created friendships through doing their weddings and events over the years. It is still heard often today, "Miss Edna did the beautiful flowers for my wedding." She did not see her flower shop as a job, she explained it as, "her service to the community", and 'serve' is certaintly what she did. She continued to work everyday in her flower shop for over 30 years, until she retired at the age of 80.

Miss Edna and her family were members of Alamo First Christian Church from the time they moved to Alamo. She served the church in many ways, which of course included flowers. She was known as a staple in the church and community, and will always be remembered for her sweet spirit and laughter she brought with her everywhere she went.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Earl Lowery in 2002.

Edna is survived by her son Ronald Earl Lowery of Jackson, TN; a daughter Miriam Lowery Pulliam, and son in law Wray Boyd Pulliam of Alamo, TN; and daughtler-in-law Evelyn Lowery of Nashville, TN.
