Ellen Ruth Thornton Gunn Helton

Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Ruth Helton, age 69, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, with Rev. Terry Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Helton died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

She was born in Madison County to the late David Paul Thornton and Betty Duncan Thornton, and was educated in the local schools. Mrs. Helton was a member of Jackson Gospel Tabernacle and was a loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother and a daughter, Brenda Agliano.

She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Myers and husband Don of Jackson, Sheila Butler and husband Brian of Jackson, Karen Rose and husband Arrnett of Henderson; one son, Darryl Gunn of Memphis; sister, Betty Wade of Malesus; brother, Troy Thornton of Huntingdon; eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the Helton family will be held today from 4 until 7 p.m., and on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers for the service will be Darryl Gunn, Trent Roberts, Trevor Gunn, Curt Rose, Jimmy Acuff, Brandon Butler.
