Mr. Herman Dwayne Haggard, age 79 of Jackson, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 21, 2013 after a long illness.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Brother Bobby Keen officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Haggard was born in Scotts Hill, TN on September 12, 1934 to the late Charlie and Rosie Dunavan Haggard. He retired from the Jackson Fire Department in 1992 after 25 years of devoted service. He was a member of the Whites Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he held many different positions over the years. He was an active sportsman and loved all types of hunting, but his favorite was coon hunting and running his dogs. He also was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team having never missed a game either on television or the radio.
Mr. Haggard is survived by his three daughters, Cissie Pierson (Joe) of Medina, TN, Nancy Taylor (Bill) of Memphis, TN and Carolyn Allen (Wayne) of Newbern, TN; nine grandchildren, Josh, Deloise, Morris, Bethany, Kimberly, Kevin, Kenneth, Magan and Joe Jr.; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Maelene Barnes (Bill) of Jackson, TN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Haggard; sister, Gladys Crawford; brother, Billy Haggard. Pallbearers to serve will be Bill Barnes, Bill Taylor, Kevin Allen, Richard Taylor, Kenneth Allen and Morris Taylor.
A visitation with friends will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
