Adamsville, TN - Honorable Ronnie Earl Harmon of Savannah, TN, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Hardin County Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. He was the wise old age of 65.
Ron, as he was affectionately known to many, was a fish fry master, joke teller, and lover of all things automotive. From dairy farmhand to history teacher, he held a multitude of jobs before settling in for a 25 year career as an attorney, before being elected to Chancellor in 1998. After he traded his courtroom uniform of navy blazer, khaki pants, and blue button down shirt, you would often find him in his favorite overalls.
In addition to his long and distinguished legal career, he was a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation, and member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Corinth, MS.
Ron held the hearts of many with his wit and charming ways. Old women and babies were his biggest fans. He entertained his friends well, with Mark Twain quotes, and his quarter in the ear trick. Ron had many hobbies and interest, but most loved passing the time cruising the lake with friends and family, singing old songs - red solo cup in hand.
In addition to his loyal friends, Ron leaves behind his devoted wife, Renee' Harmon of Adamsville; two sons, Ben Harmon and his wife Jennifer of Pickwick, Luke Harmon of Adamsville; one daughter, Julianne Fowler and her husband Jared of Germantown; five beloved grandchildren, Justus Bobo and Charlee Kate Harmon of Pickwick, Barrett and Reed Harmon of Adamsville, and Jack Fowler of Germantown. He also leaves behind one brother, Lonnie Ray Harmon of Savannah; his nephew, Chris Lee Harmon and wife Melissa, son Carter of Nashville, and Danny and Debbie Elam of Stantonville.
Ron was preceded in death by one son, Shane Whitley Harmon, and his father and mother, Ray and Betty Harmon, all of Savannah, TN.
Visitation will be held at the Hardin County Court House in Savannah, TN on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from one o'clock to five o'clock in the afternoon. A Memorial service will take place following visitation at half past five o'clock in the afternoon.
