Harry Walker Graves, Sr.

Harry Walker Graves, Sr., 85 years of age of Medina, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014.

Walker lived his entire life on the same property in Medina, with the exception of two years and one day, which he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was born into and became a member of the Medina United Methodist Church where he was a lifelong active member.

He was retired from the Milan Army Ammunition Plant where he received a Certificate of Commendation for thirty-two years of outstanding contributions to the facility.

Walker always took the business of the city of Medina seriously, serving as an alderman for a number of years. He finished the Mayoral term of his Uncle Clifford Walker, when he became ill and passed away.

He was a member of The Board of Directors for Medina Banking Company.

As an active long time member of the Medina Lions Club, with 39 years perfect attendance, one of his favorite times was working with the "Haunted Farm" project.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry L. Graves and Bernice Walker Graves, to whom he was born December 5, 1928, and his brother, Thomas Landon Graves.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Claudia Simpson Graves, married August 9, 1953; two sons, Harry Walker Graves, Jr. and Joe Landon Graves (Lori); a granddaughter, Claudia Elizabeth Graves Hoffman (Andy) and great-granddaughter, Micah Elizabeth Hoffman; two grandsons, Benjamin Walker Graves and Harrison Conrad Graves.

Visitation will be February 4, 2014 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., with funeral service at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery west of Medina, just off State Route 152. Serving as Active Pallbearers are Benjamin Graves, Harrison Graves, Andy Hoffman, John Boswell, Charles King, Jeff Parrish.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Medina United Methodist Church.
