Born the oldest of three children, at 12 years old, she became a mother figure to her two younger siblings. She was a cheerleader in high school and voted most likely to succeed. She succeeded well.
She met and married Edward Bartlett on July 7, 1946. They raised two girls and she helped anyone who called on her. Not only was she a loving and caring mother, but she put everyone's needs before her own. She loved the Lord and lived a Christian life. Diagnosed with cancer herself, she was determined to care for her husband and was by his side until his death. She was a member of East Union Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bartlett was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Edward S. Bartlett, who passed away in 2013; son-in-law, Thomas Ray Cupples; grandson, Thomas Edward Cupples; and brother, L.C. Campbell.
Mrs. Bartlett is survived by two daughters, Linda Cross and Donna Ragan (David), both of Jackson, TN; two granddaughters, Stephenie Cross and Michelle Campbell; a sister, Betty Mott (Roger); two step-sisters, Eulaine Zeanah and Janice Smelser (John); three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
The family wishes to thank, Dr. Clyde Smith and Staff, Hospice of West Tennessee, East Union Church Family, and special caregivers, Loretta, Sandra, and Odesa, who provided love and care during mother's illness.
Visitation with the family will begin at 9 a.m., going until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the East Union Baptist Church Debt Retirement Fund or Hospice of West Tennessee.
