Lottie Carpenter, age 96, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN.
Mrs. Carpenter was born in Henderson County, TN to the late Tom and Ellie Gurley on March 31, 1918. She was a devoted minister's wife and homemaker for 74 years. She was the loving mother of Joyce Fitch (Bob), Big Canoe, GA and Wanda Morris (Stephen), Murfreesboro, TN; grandmother of 5: Timothy Robert Fitch, Traci Leigh Davenport, Troy Curtis Watson, Mark Alan Fitch, and James Anthony "Trevor" Hartz; great-grandmother of 7: Taylor Michael and Shelbie Leigh Davenport, Hunter Slade, Parker James, and Cole Ryder Watson, Connor Alan and Nancy Caroline Fitch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Carpenter in 2013, her daughter, Elizabeth Grace at 3 years old in 1957, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
A.C. and Lottie celebrated their 74th anniversary on June 1, 2013 shortly before his death, and had they lived, their 75 anniversary would have been on June 1, 2014.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 1 p.m. with services at 3 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 2812 North Highland Ave., Jackson, TN 38305. Burial will be held at Independence Cemetery, Henderson County, TN immediately following.
