Joyce Lilian Maners
Joyce Lilian Maners, age 89, passed away at her home in Jackson, TN on June 16, 2014 after her battle with cancer.
She was born on January 13, 1925 in Preston, England to the late Albert and Florence Lilian Smith. She was a member of the Westover Baptist Church. She was married for 66 years to Grady O. Maners, who preceded her in death in 2010.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers and sisters, all of England.
She is survived by her four sons, Grady Lee Maners (Barbara), James "Jimmy" Maners, Paul Maners (Susan), and Mark Maners, all of Jackson, TN; two daughters, Constance "Connie" Ward (John) of Memphis, TN and Shirley Mabry (Roy) of Jackson, TN; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She served during WWII in the ATS Branch of the British Army, where she met her husband. She moved to America with him in 1945.
She loved life, her vegetable and flower gardening, cooking, visiting, and chatting with others.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home at 1 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
