James Sidney Maroney, Sr.

James Maroney, Sr., age 88 of Jackson, TN, passed away on July 10, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 2 p.m., in George A. Smith and Sons South Chapel, with Bro. Ken Skelton officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Maroney was born on November 5, 1925 to Sidney and Lucy Taylor Maroney. He was a lifelong member of Clover Creek Baptist Church. He retired from Owens Corning and served as the Mayor of Medon for 14 years. He was a Navy veteran and a member of Masonic Lodge # 332.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his three siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Teague Maroney; two daughters, Linda (Jerry) Holder of Hendersonville, TN and Marcie Willis of Jackson, TN; one son, James Sidney Maroney, Jr. of Sequim, WA; five grandchildren, Bryan Hopper, Lindsay Prather, Matt Holder, Taylor Willis and Sydney Willis; and four great-grandchildren.

A visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 5-8 p.m., in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.
