Roy Mitchell Obituary
Roy Neal Mitchell, age 73 of Pinson, passed away at his home on Friday, March 9, 2012.
He was born in Haywood County, TN on October 8, 1937. He married Delinda Miller in 1956 and they had three children. Mr. Mitchell was an aircraft engine mechanic in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1961. He was employed at the Bemis Gin for over 20 years and was a charter member of South Side Optimist Club. Mr. Mitchell was Co-Owner of Stor-ur-Stuf Storage in South Jackson. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting with his many friends and family.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his ex-wife and business partner, Delinda Mitchell; his children, Mike Mitchell and wife Debra of Memphis, TN, Renee Parker and husband Joe of Pinson, TN; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; his sisters, Peggy Benson and Rosa Warren; his brothers, Roger, Dan and Joe Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cliford LeRoy and Flora Anna Morris Mitchell; son, Stan Mitchell.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at George A. Smith and Sons, South Chapel with Pastor Bill Luther officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell was a friend to many and loved by all.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Side Optimist Club, P.O. Box 254, Jackson, TN 38302 or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Visitation will be held today from 4-7 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons, South Chapel, 731-427-5555

We are so sorry that our family has lost such a great man. Over the years my kids have grown to love , respect and admire the man that was Uncle Neal to us. My son on more than one occasion has said to me that when he grows up he wants to be the kind of man Uncle neal was. To me that says it all and I would be one proud father if my son grows to be a tenth of what that giant of a man was. He will be sorely missed by us here in Memphis and will be greatly missed at the wonderful family functions he so proudly presided over.Uncle Neal was truly one of the good guys and cannot be replaced but his memory will never leave us.
