Services for Susan Scobey Dowsley, age 63, will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Humboldt, TN, with a private burial to follow in the Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12 p.m. until service time.
Susan, who died Thursday morning in her home, was born March 5, 1949 to Martha Lynn Cole Dowsley and the late Felix R. Dowsley.
Susan graduated from Humboldt High School in 1967 and received a BA degree in education from The University of Tennessee, Martin. Susan worked for the Therapy and Learning Center for 24 years, where she served as a therapy coordinator and liaison among the families, doctors and therapists. She approached her job with enthusiasm and enjoyed forming relationships with the children and their families.
Susan was an active member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She grew up in this church and later went on to serve as an elder, Sunday school teacher and lay reader. She thrived on being with family and friends, and made life more fun for all.
Susan is survived by her mother, Martha Lynn Dowsley of Humboldt; two brothers, Cole Dowsley and wife Connie of Jackson, and Felix Dowsley III and wife Susie of Nashville; a daughter, Catherine Cooper Payne and husband Jay of Signal Mountain, and a son, Clayton Cooper and wife Dana of Humboldt. Susan also leaves five grandsons, Davis, Caldwell, Collins, Forrest and Crew Payne.
