Arlene June Gutwein, 82, Medaryville, IN, Home with the Lord on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 3:15AM at her residence in Medaryville, IN.

She was born January 27, 1931, in Francesville, IN, to Ernest E. and Sylvia Malchow Smith. Arlene married Adam Jacob Gutwein on November 26, 1950 in Francesville, IN.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Francesville, IN. She was active in the children and youth ministries of the church.

Arlene enjoyed serving others. She was devoted to her family. Arlene especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Adam Jacob Gutwein, Medaryville, IN, three sons Mitchell (Tammy) Gutwein, Lafayette, IN, Dennis (Kitty) Gutwein, Medaryville, IN, and Roger (Chelle) Gutwein, Cincinnati, OH, 9 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, three sisters Phyllis (Don) Anderson, Granbury, TX, Madeleine (Fred) Gutwein, and Diana (James) Culp, both of Francesville, IN, one brother Ron Smith, West Lafayette, IN, and a Sister-in-law Clara Smith, Las Vegas, NV.

Arlene was preceded in death by one sister Paulina Smith and one brother Richard Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM EDT Monday, March 25, 2013, in First Baptist Church, Francesville, with Pastor Dennis Gutwein and Roger Cryan officiating.

Burial will take place in the Roseland Cemetery, Francesville, IN.

Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM EDT Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the First Baptist Church, Francesville, and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church.

Memorial Contributions may be given to the American Cancer Fund or the First Baptist Church Youth Fund.

Ashley, I am so sorry to hear about your Grandma Gutwein. I always loved to hear your stories about her and her rocking chair!
