Sharlyn R. Barron, 65
Sharlyn R. Barron, 65, of Lafayette, died at 2:07 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital.
Born November 4, 1946, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late John and Edith Waymire Williams. Sharlyn attended Lafayette Jefferson High School and was a graduate of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. She married William R. Ballard Jr. on October 3, 1965, in Lafayette; he preceded her in death in April of 1997. She later married John Barron on July 15, 1979, in Lafayette and he preceded her in death in December of 2011. Sharlyn had worked as a cook at Purdue University for 20 years and then worked as a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital before retiring. She enjoyed playing bingo, working crossword puzzles and word searches, but more importantly, spending time with her family and extended family.
Surviving are her three children, Christina (Mark) Nydegger, William Ballard III and Kimberly (Douglas) Thompson, all of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Kenneth, Keith Jr., Tasha, Mellissa, Kim and Paula. Besides her biological family, she is survived by multiple adoptive sons, daughters and grandchildren.
Sharlyn is preceded in death by three sisters; a brother; and a grandson, William. She was well-liked by many and will be truly missed.
Visitation 9:30 to 10 a.m. Monday at Simplicity Funeral Care with the service beginning at 10 a.m.: Pastor Charles Giles officiating.
