Robert G. "Bob" Evans, 82
Robert G. "Bob" Evans, 82, of Monticello (Carroll County), passed away September 10th, at the I.U. Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born June 9, 1931, in Greencastle, to the late Jessie Alonzo and Cressie Iola (Goss) Evans.
Bob was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Bob retired from the Monon Railroad in 1983, after 28 years of working as a "railroad car man".
He was a former commander of the VFW Post #2231, and a service officer at the AmVets Post #91, both of Monticello.
Bob was also a former member of the American Legion Post #81, Moose Lodge, and Eagles Lodge, all of Monticello.
Surviving are sons, Michael R. Evans of Bourbonnais, IL, Gregory G. "Greg" (Sherry) Evans of Delphi, and Leslie L. (Dawn) Snyder of Little Rock, AR; daughter, Kimberly D. Roebuck of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Valerie (Chris) Cuddy, and Vincent Evans, both of Bourbonnais, IL, Samantha Evans of Battle Ground, Andrew, and Amelia E. Roebuck, both of Fort Wayne, Karissa (Todd) Jones of Tipton, and Colin Snyder of Little Rock, AR; great grandson, Kieran Robert Cuddy; sister, Ruth Foust of Lafayette; brother, Jessie Evans of Cloverdale; and loving companion, Bev Goede of Monticello.
Bob was preceded in death by wife, Patricia Evans; sisters, Juanita, and Helen; and brothers, August, Hardy, Henry, Bill, and Lowell Evans.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 1 to 3 p.m., September 14th, at the AmVets Post #91, 219 Northwestern Ave., Monticello. Memorial Celebration of Life Service, followed by Full Military Rites by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard at the AmVets Post #91, at 3 p.m., September 14th.
Memorials may be given to the AmVets Post #91 of Monticello, or to the wishes of the donor.
