Ralph Peacock Obituary

Ralph Verner Peacock, 83

Ralph Verner Peacock, 83, Kentland, died at 7:17 a.m. January 4, 2013.

He was born January 4, 1930, in Austin, Ind., on the family farm belonging to the late Delbert Peacock and Elsie (Deberry) Peacock.

He graduated from Earl Park High School in 1949. Ralph also attended classes at Ivy Tech. Ralph served in the Navy for 4 years. During this time he made 23 trips to Europe and back.

His marriage was to Zelma Harvey on December 30, 1952, in Macclenny, Fla. Zelma preceded Ralph in death on April 7, 2001.

Throughout his life, Ralph was primarily a resident of Kentland. He was a member of the Covenant Federated Church in Kentland and the Masonic Lodge. Ralph previously worked for John Deere International Garage and later retired from Viskase.

Ralph enjoyed building model airplanes, playing cards, and riding mopeds. For over 28 years, he rode his motorcycle all over the United States.

Surviving Ralph are three children; Larry Peacock (wife: Linda) of Kentland, Joyce Gunther (husband: Raymond "Pirate") of Monticello, Carol Glotzbach (husband: Jeffrey) of West Lafayette; sister; Irene Swanson of Lafayette, two brothers; William "Bill" Peacock of LaPorte, Texas, and Ronald Peacock (wife: JoAnn Cooper) of Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; Cloyd and Carl Peacock, and sister; Wilma Johnson.

Also surviving are three grandchildren; Douglas Glotzbach, Matthew Glotzbach, and Rachel Ann Peacock; step-grandchildren; James "Phooey" Gunther and Billie Jean (Brian) Simpson; step-great-grandchildren; Sophia Gunther, Samantha Gunther, Breeanna Simpson and Brooklyn Simpson.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. (CST) Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. (CST) Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland.

Interment to follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with military rites at graveside services.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ralph's name to the American Diabetes Association.
