Frank Loy Obituary

Frank F. Loy, Jr., 89

Frank F. Loy, Jr., 89, of Lafayette, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013 in the Indiana Veterans' Home.

Frank was born on June 17, 1923 in Buck Creek to the late Frank F. Loy, Sr. and Beatrice (Ledman) Loy.

He graduated from Buck Creek High School in 1942. Frank served his country in the United States Army during World War II from March of 1943 until December of 1945. He served in the Recon. Company 63rd Armored.

On February 16, 1946, he married Mary Katherine Hufford in Rossville. She preceded him in death on January 26, 1978.

Frank worked for Purdue University as a janitor for 4 years before retiring in 1985. He previously worked for Peerless Wire for 19 years and Buck Creek Lumber Company for 13 years.

Frank was a member of the VFW, an avid Cubs and Purdue Basketball fan, a history buff, and he enjoyed playing cards.

Frank is survived by his children, Gary (Dawna) Loy of Delphi, Diane Elliott of Lafayette, Joanne (Darrell) Griffith of West Lafayette, and Nancy Robinson of Logansport. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Loy, and a daughter, Marilyn Marshall.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at Fisher Funeral Chapel. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Association in loving memory of Frank.
