Vernon E. Rice, 74
Vernon E. Rice, 74, of Ligonier passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 11:35 a.m. at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. He was born on August 30, 1938, to John and Josephine (Koekenberg) Rice in Attica.
He graduated from Attica High School in 1955 and went on to serve four years in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He had retired after 37 years of service at Silgan in Ligonier. He had a love for antique cars and enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoor activities whenever possible
Surviving are his mother, Josephine Rice of Ligonier; two nieces, Randi Rice, of Kendallville and Jona Johnson, of El Paso, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his father, and brothers, John Glen and Larry Lee.
A funeral service will be held in Mr. Rice's honor on Saturday December 22, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Maus Funeral Home in Attica. There will be a time of visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maus Funeral Home prior to the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
There will be a time of visitation on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home in Ligonier.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Noble County Hospice Association.
Yeager Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

joe,sorry to hear of Vernon's passing. Most mothers don't have to experience the deaths of their children Delores and will not be able to attend the viewing.
