Jean E. Osterhoff
Jean E. (Van Tress) Osterhoff, 87, of Fort Myers, Florida, died at 11am on March 18, 2013, in Fort Myers, Florida. She was born May 3, 1925, in Warren County, Indiana, attended Attica High School, and graduated from Bowers High School in Darlington, Indiana.
Jean married Richard E. Osterhoff on June 29, 1946, in Lafayette, Indiana. They farmed for several years in Lafayette, Ambia, and Linden, Indiana, before moving to Fort Myers, Florida in 1979. Jean worked at R.E.M.C. in Linden as cashier, at Farm Loan Corporation in Indianapolis, and Lafayette National Bank as teller and head of savings accounts. She was well known for her hand-made crafts and was an avid dancer most of her life, having taught dancing for several years in Jamaica Bay Park near Fort Myers.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Richard E., her parents, Clarence and Catherine Van Tress, and her brother Robert Van Tress. She is survived by two Van Tress nephews, Jay and Jon and a niece, Jana Van Tress Palmer, two sisters-in-law, Elsie Osterhoff and Wilma Osterhoff of West Lafayette, and several Osterhoff nieces and nephews. Interment is at National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.
