Harris Jr., Vincent L.  
Vincent L. Harris, Jr. Vincent L. Harris, 74, passed away April 10th, 2015 at IU Health Arnett after courageously battling cancer for seven years. "Vince" was born April 9th, 1941 to the late Vincent L. Sr. and Lillian (Massey) Harris. A life-long resident of Lafayette, Vince was a member of the second class to graduate from Central Catholic in 1959. On June 3rd, 1972, Vince married his bride of 42 years, Anna (Gridler) Harris in Bradenville, PA. He was employed by Schomers Plumbing, Heating and Cooling until his retirement in 2011. Vince was a devoted husband, father and brother. He proudly supported Jefferson High School athletics, the alma mater of his two sons, and was well-known to have never missed any of their football games or track meets. He was a third-degree Knight of Columbus and a member of St. Lawrence Church. He was also an avid reader who enjoyed history and the simple things in life. He will be remembered as an honorable man of few words. Vince is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tony Harris. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Anna; sons, Vince and Andrew; daughters-in-law, Danielle and Greer; brother, Stephen Harris; and many extended family members and friends. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, April 17th from 5 to 8 p.m. at Soller-Baker, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN. Condolences can be sent to the family via www.soller-baker.com . Hathaway, George  
George Hathaway, 92 George Hathaway, 92, formerly of Delphi, IN passed away at Community Hospital at Anderson, IN on April 8, 2015. George was born to the late Earl William and Hazel Marie (McClelland) Hathaway in White County, IN. He attended schools in Delphi. He served in the US Navy during WWII, participating in 11 invasions. George married Beverly Hawn and they later divorced. His 2nd marriage was to Georgia R. James and she preceded him on April 9, 2010. Mr. Hathaway retired as Bridge Superintendent at Michaels Construction in Frankfort, IN. He was a former member of the Radnor United Methodist Church. He was an avid John Wayne fan; he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and playing cards. He loved his large family and cherished times spent with them. He is survived by his children: Sharon Sue Hathaway of Delphi, Sara Swartz (Larry) of Lafayette, Stephen Michael Hathaway (Kathie) of Muncie, Gary L. Hathaway (Elaine) of Corpus Christi, TX, Kathie Jo Yerkes of Camden, Russell W. Hathaway (Mary) of Kentland, Tonya Elliott (Nathan) of Anderson, Penny Krieg of North Carolina, Tim and Greg Grigsby of Kentucky; siblings: Nellie Peters & Marion Hathaway of Camden, Lucille Geisler and Edna Capper of Monticello, Orville Hathaway of Delphi, and Wayne Hathaway of Kokomo; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Along with his wives, George was preceded by his daughter: Sandra Kay Taylor; sisters: Thelma Peters, Ruby Kempf, Faye Eyestone and Jesse Allen; brothers: Bob, Don, Richard, Tom and Russell W. Hathaway. Visitation will be at Davidson Funeral Home on Monday, April 13, 2015 from Noon until the 2:00 p.m. service. Pastor Bill McLean will officiate. Hill, Mary Jane (Clarke)  
Mary Jane (nee Clarke) Hill, 85 Mary Jane (nee Clarke) Hill, age 85, of Lafayette, Indiana, formerly of Griffith, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2015, at Indiana Veteran's Home of West Lafayette, with her loving daughter at her side. Mary Jane was born January 4, 1930 in Chicago Illinois to the late Charles and Clara (Kluck) Clarke. Also preceding her in death are her grandson John E. Piegza, sisters, Dorothy, Beverly, and brothers John and Larry. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Karen Piegza, grandchildren Nicole, Steven and Amanda Piegza, great grandchild, Ava, and a brother-in-law Forrest Hill. Mrs. Hill was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and a selfless caregiver to many in her family. She enjoyed bunco and crossword puzzles. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 10:30 am at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46375) with Pastor Bob Parnell officiating. Visitation will be Friday, April 17, 2015 from 4-8 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Howard, Izola Marie (Dowling)  
Izola Marie (Dowling) Howard, 89 Izola Marie (Dowling) Howard, 89, Boswell, passed away in the St. Anthony Healthcare Center, Lafayette, on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 2:15 a.m. Izola was born in Boswell, Indiana, on July 16, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Marshall and Emma (Price) Dowling. She was and educated in Boswell, living there her entire life. Izola formerly worked at the 41 Floral Shop in Boswell for 16 years and later owned and operated Izola's Flower Shop in Boswell for 21 years. She was a member of the Boswell Free Methodist Church. She loved to garden and enjoyed painting. She was a member of the Prairie Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and had served as Past Matron. On November 12, 1941, Izola married Russell James Howard in Fowler, IN. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1996. She leaves behind a daughter, Alice French, Lafayette; a daughter-in-law, Betty Howard, Otterbein; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 13 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald & Robert Howard; a daughter, Judy Kirchbaum; a great-grandson, Caleb Wetli; two brothers, Gerald and Orra Dowling along with a sister, Rozella Cox. Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Wednesday, April 15th, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Sims officiating. Huffer, Carla J.  
Carla J. Huffer, 65 Carla J. (Ferling) Huffer, 65, of Port Charlotte, FL passed from this life on April 8, 2015 at Bayfront Health after courageously battling a malady of illnesses. She was born March 13, 1950 in Binghamton, NY, the second daughter of Alvera and Aaron Ferling. Her childhood was lived in Tab and Attica, IN. As an adult she resided mostly in Greenville, OH and Lafayette, IN. Carla had been employed as a steel estimator at Camden Steel in Ohio and Steel Joist in Lafayette, IN and Washington, MO. Her greatest passion was horticulture; anyone who visited her was treated to a tour of her flower and vegetable gardens. She also loved knitting, crocheting and her pets - Cody, Buster and Boo. Carla married Gary Huffer in September of 1999 in Lafayette, IN. Upon his retirement they relocated to Port Charlotte, FL to be near her niece, Kandi Martindell. Along with her husband, Gary, survivors include sisters: Linda Herendeen of Port Charlotte, FL and Ann Marshall of Middletown, OH; her three sons: Eric McMurtrie of Indianapolis, IN, Jason Riegel of Tampa, FL and Nathan Cummings of Lafayette, IN; stepsons: James Huffer of Lafayette, IN, Gary E. (Wanda) Fleming of Greencastle, IN; stepdaughter Tracey (Russell) Uerkwitz of Rossville, IN; numerous nephews and nieces including Mark Patterson of Brookston, IN and Jack Kaffenberger Jr. of Ansonia, OH. Carla was preceded in death by her parents; 3 half brothers, Robert W. Ferling, Edgar R. Lantis Jr. and Larry L. Lantis; and half sister Patricia Lantis Harmon. Carla was a baptized Christian.
