Salmon, Ronald Paul  
Ronald Paul Salmon, 81 Ronald Paul Salmon, 81, of Fowler, passed away peacefully at Green Hill Manor Nursing Home, Monday evening, December 15th, 2014. He was born in Whiting, IN, on November 17, 1933, the son of Lawrence Salmon and Nancy Madary Salmon. He resided with his parents in Whiting and Hammond before moving with them to Fowler in 1962. He lived in that home until June of 2009 when he made his new home at Green Hill Manor. Ronald simply loved life. His bright smile was infectious. He dearly loved the staff at Green Hill Manor who cared for him with compassion. Ron had a true talent in crafts. A few of his pieces won awards at the Benton County Fair. He loved working outdoors and taking care of his lawn and bushes. He loved animals of all kinds and children had a special place in his heart. He had a passion for baseball, attending numerous Cubs, White Sox, and Indianapolis Indians games as well as watching games on TV. Ron enjoyed the activities at the nursing home and a big highlight for him was riding in the 4th of July parade in Fowler in 2014. Surviving are 7 nieces and nephews: Jeff Brooks of Fowler, Jim Salmon of Bloomington, IN, Nanci Salmon of Munster, IN, Evelyn Ambre of Las Vegas, NV, Larry Salmon of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Karen Morgan of Gosport, IN, and Linda Gill of Cranston, RI. Also surviving are 2 sisters-in-law: Amy Salmon of Reno, NV, and Emma Salmon of Spencer, IN. He is also survived by his precious cat, Buddy. He also dearly loved his long time neighbor Doris Hartert. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers and sister: Marjorie Brooks, Charles, Max, and Larry Salmon. Nephews, Kevin Salmon and Scott Salmon also preceded him in death. A visitation will be held at Windler Funeral Home in Fowler from 11am to 1 pm on Saturday, December 20, 2014. A service led by Pastor Brenda Ludwig will take place at 1 pm at the funeral home with a graveside service to follow at Fowler Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Greater Lafayette Honor Flight, Boswell Elementary School Library, or Green Hill Manor activities fund.

Shellcrosslee, Lora M.  
Lora M. Shellcrosslee, 89 Lora M. Shellcrosslee, 89, of Lafayette passed away, Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Creasy Springs in Lafayette. Lora was born March 7, 1925 in Montmorenci, Indiana to the late Stavro and Julliah Earl Miteff. She graduated from Otterbein High School and lived in the Lafayette area for most of her life. During her career, she worked for the Brown Rubber Company for 13 years, then at Alcoa until her retirement in 1988. Lora was a longtime member of Dayton United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, Michael T. McGreevy of Lafayette; grandchildren, Bryan (Sarah) McGreevy of Lafayette and Matthew (Brandi) McGreevy of Lafayette; great-grandchildren, Katilyn (Cody) Townsend, Bryan Austin McGreevy, Mattie Jo McGreevy, Brayden McGreevy and Brooklynn McGreevy, Stephen Williamson, Savannah Williamson, and Kameren Williamson; great-great-grandchild, Korban Townsend; and a sister, Julliah Adams of Minden, LA. Lora was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas O. McGreevy (1974). Lora married Harry Shellcrosslee in 1988 and he preceded her in 2009. Brothers, Elmer Miteff, Lawrence Miteff, Elden Miteff and John Thompson, also preceded her. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Monday December 22, 2014 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Services will follow on Tuesday, 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Historic Springvale Cemetery. Smith, Yvonne H.  
Yvonne H. Smith, 86 Yvonne Helen Smith, 86, of Lafayette, passed away at 12:08 am Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at St. Mary Health Care. She was born February 4, 1928, in Illinois, to the late Valentine and Agnes (Neu) Overy. Agnes graduated from Round Grove High School. Her first marriage was to Frank Zink, he passed away September 16, 1967. Then on January 4, 1969 she married Richard L. Smith at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette and he survives. Yvonne enjoyed baking and traveling to visit family. Surviving along with her husband are her children, Francis Zink of California, Steven Zink of Chicago, Dennis Zink (Donna) of Naperville, IL, Randy Zink (Kathy) of California and Denise Boehle (Partner Bob Windler) of Fowler. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909 with Celebrant Carla Ellis officiating. Snyder, William "Bill"  
William "Bill" Snyder, 90 William "Bill" Snyder, age 90, of Rensselaer passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014, at the Jasper County Hospital. He was the son of William and Lyda (Kelly) Snyder, born May 7, 1924, in Souix City, Iowa. Bill graduated from Spirit Lake High School with the class of 1942. He married Jeanne Bowron on April 7, 1947, in South Bend. They were the parents of 9 Children, Mary Yoder of South Dakota, Frances "Fran" (Roger) Howard of Elkhart, Margaret "Maggy" (Abe) Garber of Goshen, Joe (Linda) Snyder of Crown Point, Rita (Denny) Alfrey of Syracuse, IN. Virginia (Randy) Koch of Mishawaka, Jill (Bill) Andres of Brookston, Nancy (David) Walter of Rensselaer and Daniel (Darlene) Snyder of Goshen, IN. Bill has 18 Grandchildren, and 21 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter Sandra Snyder, two brothers and two sisters. Bill was in the Army Air Corp. During World War II he served as a B-29 mechanic stationed in Guam. Bill started working at Farm Bureau Co-op Lumber Yard in Jasper County from 1948 to 1966 then moving to Elkhart County where he was the manager of the lumbar yard from 1966-1978. He returned to the lumbar yard in Jasper County here where he eventually retired in 1986. He was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight. He was a charter member of the 4th Degree Marian Assembly. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post #29. Bill delivered for Meals on Wheels and bowled on the Senior Bowling League. One of his latest adventures was going on the World War II Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2013. Friends will be received at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer Tuesday, December 23, 2014, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. There will be a rosary service held at 9:00 AM. Funeral mass for Bill will be held at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Don Davison officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Rensselaer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or Gibault School for Boys. See www.jacksonfuneral.com

Southern, Kenneth L.  
Kenneth L. Southern, 73 Kenneth L. Southern, 73, of Lafayette passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at St. Elizabeth East. He was born June 14, 1941, in Lafayette to the late Otis Southern and Eileen Oswalt Southern Newton. Kenneth graduated from Southwestern High School and on September 21, 1963 he married Sharon Ann Sosbe in Lafayette and she survives. Kenneth worked as a pressman for RR Donnelley for 42 years and is retired. He was a member of the First Church of God and enjoyed riding in his golf cart and spending time with his family, friends and his two dogs, Sassy and Baby. Surviving along with his wife are his children, Melody L. Davis (Daniel) of Crawfordsville, Dana L. Southern (Rita) of Romney, grandchildre, Taylor Davis Norton, Alexandria Southern, Drake Davis, Landyn Southern, Ryland Southern and a great-granddaughter, Harmony Norton. Also surviving are his sisters, Helen House (Gary) of MI and Linda Fields of Lafayette. Kenny was preceded in death by a brother Richard Southern. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Pastor Tami Musshe officiating. Swisher, Susan M.  
Susan M. Swisher, 71 Susan M. Swisher, 71, of Lafayette died at 5:31 pm, Thursday, December 18, 2014 at IU Health Arnett, Lafayette. She was born October 12, 1943 in Lafayette to the late Ralph E. and Dorothy C. (Murr) Harvey. She was a 1962 graduate of Klondike High School and received her medical assistant certification from Ivy Technical Institute and a business degree from Indiana Business College. She married Army Major Melvin Lloyd Swisher on January 9, 1988 in Lafayette. Melvin survives. Her first marriage was to James L. Carlson on December 21, 1963. James preceded her in death in January 1985. She was a long time member of the East Tipp Baptist Church. In the 1970's Susan worked as a medical assistant for Drs. Mary Ade and C.H. Ade. She also ran a Rossville daycare for 23 years prior to retiring in 2000. In Susan's younger years she enjoyed playing the piano and horseback riding. More recently, she enjoyed listening to DVD's of the Gaithers' and was a huge Gaither fan. Above all, Susan cherished time spent with her family. She is survived by her husband Melvin Swisher; 2 children, Kristina Hurt (husband: Steve), Jamie Carlson (wife: Christina); 3 stepchildren, Sara Samudio (husband: Lou), Patrick Swisher (wife: Kim), Eric Swisher (wife: Christian); 10 grandchildren, Michael and Olivia Samudio, Alex and Lila Swisher, Thea, Elizabeth, and Sophia Swisher, James Hurt, Shelby Carrasco, and Jay Carlson; 1 great-granddaughter, Danyelle Carrasco; 1 brother, John Harvey (wife: Linda). She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Dorothy Harvey; a son, Brian James Carlson; husband, James Carlson; and 2 siblings. Friends may call from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm, Sunday, December 21, 2014 at East Tipp Baptist Church, 5300 East 300 North, Lafayette, IN 47905. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Monday, December 22, 2014 at the church with Pastor Tim Depue officiating. Interment will follow in Battle Ground Cemetery, Battle Ground.
