Rose Frances Anthrop, 94

Rose Frances Anthrop, 94, of West Lafayette, died at 3:00p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born September 23, 1917 in Montmorenci to the late Cornelius and Mary (Robrock) Vanderkolk. She attended St. Lawrence School and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1935.

Her marriage was to Gerry J. Anthrop at St. Lawrence Church on August 16, 1941. He preceded her in death on November 6, 2003.

She was a homemaker and was employed 10 years in the Purdue Dairy Department before her marriage and during World War II. She was also the Activities Director at the Tippecanoe Villa from 1974 to 1983.

She was a member of St. Lawrence and Blessed Sacrament Church.

She was an active community volunteer. She served on the St. Lawrence school board, parish council, and president of the Mothers Club and Altar and Aid Society. She served as the president of the Ladies Guild of Central Catholic High School, Diocesan International Chairman and treasurer of the Council of Catholic Women. She was a member of the Postal Workers Auxiliary, Ladies of Charity and St. Rita Study Club of Blessed Sacrament Church, the 21st Century Club and Academic Booster Club of Central Catholic Junior/Senior High School. She volunteered at the Lafayette Area Catholic Schools garage sales for tuition assistance. She also volunteered, in the Gold Ladies Program of the Tippecanoe County Mental Health Association, at the Tippecanoe County Villa; she and her sister Betty Niccum sponsored monthly holiday programs at St. Anthony Heath Care Facility for many years. She compiled a book of monthly party ideas for health care facilities.

She received a Pleasant Grove community award for community service in 1977, Mental Health Association of Indiana volunteer awards in 1975 and 1995, Gold Ladies Mental Health Association award in 1985 and a St. Lawrence Distinguished Graduate Award in 2004.

Rose enjoyed reading, growing flowers, listening to WGN radio and watching football, basketball and baseball games - especially those of her Knight grandsons - Jade, Dru, Danny and Jackson Anthrop.

Surviving are her children Joseph, Mary and John (wife Jana) Anthrop of West Lafayette, her grandsons Jade, Dru, Danny and Jackson Anthrop, sister Betty Niccum and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Gick, and her two brothers Cornelius and Bernard Vanderkolk.

Friends may call from 5-8p.m. Friday, May 25, 2012 at St. Lawrence Church. A rosary service will be held prior to the visitation at 4:45 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 11: 30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church on Saturday, May 26 with Father Peter Vanderkolk and Father Dan Gartland officiating. Interment to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lafayette Area Catholic Schools Foundation or Rose and Gerry Anthrop Central Catholic Scholarship.

Amalia "Molly" Barber, 23

Amalia "Molly" Barber, 23, of Clinton, IL will be remembered as the light that brightened the lives of all those who knew and loved her. Molly died May 19 on her 23rd birthday while hiking near Tucson, AZ.

Molly was born May 19, 1989 in Manhattan, KS to Roxanne and Kevin Barber. She is survived by her parents of Clinton, IL; brothers, Eric and Kennon "Kip" Barber both of Clinton, IL; grandparents Candy Backus of Tucson, AZ; Wayne and Evangeline Barber of Sherburn, MN; Janet Meyer of Tumwater, WA; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and Andrew Scharbrough, the love of her life of Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM CDT Friday, May 25, 2012 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with funeral services at 11 AM CDT Saturday at the Clinton Presbyterian Church with Rev. C. Don Ferrill officiating. Memorials may be made to the Molly Barber Memorial Fund.

Molly was a senior at Purdue University where she was completing a degree in mechanical engineering. She completed internships with Monsanto CO. She was a proud member of Purdue's All-American Marching Band. She was a campus tour guide, residential advisor and a member of the Ambassador program in the College of Engineering.

Molly was a 2007 graduate of Clinton High School where she was Co-Valedictorian of her class. She participated in band, cross-country, track, softball and Excel Club.

For Molly, family and friends were the center of her life. She was a master storyteller with a creative spirit that made anything she put her hand to more beautiful. The essence of Molly lives on in the hearts she touched, the lives she changed with her generous spirit and the warmth that unforgettable smile brought to everyone she met.

Molly was a member of the Clinton Presbyterian Church.

Frank M. Clark

West Lebanon - Frank Melvin Clark, 79, went to be with our Lord, May 22, 2012, after a long illness.

The son of the late Benjamin F. and C. Marie (Bowlus) Clark, was born August 9, 1932, on the family farm in West Lebanon. He was a graduate of West Lebanon High School in 1950 and Purdue University in 1954. At Purdue he studied Animal Science. Frank was a P-Man in baseball as a pitcher at Purdue.

An ROTC student, Frank entered military service at Fort Sill, OK, serving in the U.S. Army.

At Purdue, Frank met Winifred "Wini" Miller. They were married September 4, 1954. They have four daughters, Kathryn (Mark) Shephard, Karen (Kerry) Thomas, Margaret (Jackson) Morgan and Michele (Adam) Dalton; ten grandchildren, Kyle (Stephanie), Kristen and Katie Thomas; Colt, Clark and Cassidy Morgan; Carter, Isabel, Lincoln and Pearl Dalton; four step grandchildren, Patrick Shephard, Misty, Jamie and Lindsey Morgan; eight step great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard A. "Dick" (and the late Marge) Clark; four nephews, Mike (Anna), Kelly and Rick (Carol) Clark; Mike (Pendora) Miller. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Scott Clark.

Frank farmed in Warren County for 55 years.

He served as President of the Indiana Beef Cattle Association, St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital Board of Directors, the MSD of Warren County School Board, Elder of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chairman of the Indiana Board of Animal Health, Warren Count Council, member of the Warren County Local Economic Development Board and Local Emergency Preparedness Team and was appointed to the National Beef Check-off Board.

He had been a member of the John Purdue Club since 1969, the Animal Science Scholarship Selection Committee, Advisory Board to Animal Disease and Diagnostic Laboratory, Committee for Class of 1954 Golden Anniversary Class Gift. He endowed the Frank and Wini Clark Beef Industry Scholarship. He hosted the Animal Science 181 farm tour and the Indiana Farm Management Tour, served on PCARET, was 4-H Horse & Pony and Beef Superintendents.

Friends may call at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, corner of 3rd and Clinton St., West Lebanon, on Monday, May 28th, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the church on Tuesday, May 29th, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Roger McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in the West Lebanon Cemetery.

Howard Rushton, 91

Maxine Virginia Howard Rushton, 91, Decherd, TN, died May 21, 2012.

She was born on March 8, 1921 in Cissna Park, IL to Vachel & Mary Geraldine (McIlvain) Howard.

She married Albert R. Rushton in Waverly, IN on December 17, 1941 and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1975.

Mrs. Rushton was a 1940 graduate of Burlington High School. She was of the Episcopalian Faith. Her memberships include: O.E.S. in Crawfordsville, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the American Legion and the Elk Ladies, both in Lafayette. Mrs. Rushton worked at J.C. Penney in Crawfordsville for 10 years.

Surviving are 2 Daughters: Anita (John) Rushton Miller of Winchester, TN and Regina (Gary) Rushton Tamblyn of Elizabeth, CO; 3 Grandsons: Jeff Miller, Mark Miller and Matt Miller all of Nashville, TN; 5 Great Grandchildren, Ben, Alyssa, Jacob, Grant and Sidney Miller.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, William Russell Howard, Homer Junkin Howard and infant Harold Howard and 1 sister, Louise Howard Loveless.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Goodwin Funeral Home. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at goodwinfuneralhome.com

Jamie L. Stockdale

Veedersburg - Jamie Lynn Stockdale, 20 year-old daughter of Wesley and Sara Lynn Baines-Stockdale, of rural Veedersburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, 2:10 p.m., surrounded by her family following an illness with a brain tumor for a year and a half.

Jamie was born on January 7, 1992 in Crawfordsville, IN. She was a young lady with an easy smile and good work ethic. While at Fountain Central High School, Jamie participated in tennis and volleyball. She was a cheerleader for the boy's basketball and football teams. She graduated from Fountain Central High School in 2010. Jamie was active in 4-H by being a 10 year 4-H member with the Millcreek Go-Getters. She had a good work ethic and you could find her working at Hershey's Drive-IN in Veedersburg during the summers. Her peers enjoyed her socially as being fair and equal in the way she treated people.

Jamie was studying nursing at St. Joseph College in Renssalaer in conjunction with the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lafayette. She had completed her Freshman year. She had been unable to attend her Sophomore year due to her illness.

She leaves behind her loving parents, Wesley and Sara Lynn Baines-Stockdale of rural Veedersburg; her younger brother, Jake Wesley Stockdale, who is a junior at Fountain Cental High School; her caring grandparents, Gene & Carolyn Stockdale, rural Veedersburg and Jim & Cathy Baines, Batavia, IL; aunts, uncles and cousins; her pet labs, Tillie & Drake, along with a host of friends.

Friends may gather at the Sterling Christian Church, Veedersburg, on Wednesday, May 30th, from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. A celebration of Jamie's life with be held a the church on Thursday, May 31st at 10:00 a.m. with Pastors Gary Johnson and Greg McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Contributions in Jamie's memory may be made to Southeast Community Foundation/Jamie L. Stockdale Scholarship; Sterling Christian Church or the Fountain County 4-H Council-Livestock Fund.

Audrey E. Svetanoff

DELPHI - Audrey E. Svetanoff, 92, passed away on Sun., May 20, 2012 at 2:10 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Delphi.

Audrey was born on Nov. 21, 1919 in Poplar Grove, Illinois to the late Louis Eugene and Neta Sarah (Plato) Frint.

She married Carl Svetanoff and he passed away in 1982.

Mrs. Svetanoff had been employed with Jewel Groceries.

Her caregiver, Jane Penn, Delphi survives.

Burial will be in Memory Gardens at Arlington Heights, IL. Audrey requested there be no services. Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi has been entrusted with her final arrangements.

George F. Synesael, 95

George F. Synesael, age 95 of Lafayette, formerly of Stockwell, passed away at 12:50 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at St. Anthony's Healthcare. Born December 8, 1916 in Odell, IN, he was the son of the late Peter J. and Caroline Snouwaert Synesael. He was educated in the Jackson Township Schools in Tippecanoe County.

He married Elizabeth Murdaugh on December 7, 1935 in Attica and she preceded him in death on September 1, 2003. George worked at Alcoa for 31 ½ years and retired in 1971. After retirement he worked for 7 years at the Purdue University Veterinarian Hospital. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, a lifetime member of American Rabbit Breeders and Golden Prairie Rabbit Club and involved in 4-H. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and riding horses.

Surviving are two sons, Gerald "Jerry" Synesael (wife, Jude Ann) of rural Otterbein and Kenneth "Kenny" Synesael (wife, Donna) of West Point, two daughters, Diane Burdine of Lafayette and Catherine E. Larson (husband, Gale) of Attica, and one sister, Jane Clapp (husband, Donald) of Lafayette.

Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 33 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, David and John Synesael, one great-granddaughter, two brothers, and one sister.

Visitation 5-8 p.m. Monday at Hippensteel Funeral Home, with Rosary service at 4:45 p.m. Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann Catholic Church with Father Dominic Young officiating. Entombment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Soup Kitchen. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
